Microneedling to reduce wrinkles and diminish scars
Eclipse MicroPen
The Eclipse MicroPen makes use of a process known as Automated Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars by stimulating production of the skin’s own collagen and elastin. Both found naturally in the skin, collagen and elastin help give skin a healthy glow and more youthful appearance. Unlike other microneedle devices, the MicroPen uses automated oscillation at 8500 RPMs to place microchannels more uniformly and reduce trauma to the skin.
How does Eclipse MicroPen Treatment work?
The MicroPen is a cordless device that can easily be moved around the treatment area. A sterile needle-tip containing twelve microneedles is attached to the end of the MicroPen. The depth of the needles is determined by the severity of the skin condition. The rapid pulsing motion of the needles allows the device to quickly treat the target area with minimal discomfort.
What can the Eclipse MicroPen treat?
The MicroPen can treat any area on the body, including the face, hands, arms, abdomen, etc. It works on both fine lines and wrinkles as well as deeper wrinkles and scars, though these conditions may require additional treatment sessions.
Common conditions treated include:
- Acne
- Acne scarring
- Trauma scarring
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Tired, dull skin
The micro-channels created by the pen also allow the skin to better absorb topical creams, gels, and serums.
What should patients expect during treatment?
Before treatment starts, a thin layer of topical gel is applied to the skin and the Eclipse MicroPen is set to the appropriate depth to create micro-injuries on the outer layer of skin without damaging surrounding skin or tissue.
As the MicroPen moves across the treatment area, patients report a feeling similar to a light sandpaper moving across the skin. The speed at which the pen operates combined with the topical gel makes for a more comfortable experience.
When will results be visible?
Immediately after treatment, patients may notice their skin has a glow to it and looks more refreshed. Redness will occur in the treatment area and usually lasts 2 to 4 days. Your dermatologist can recommend specific skin care products that may speed up the healing process.
Results will become more visible typically within a few days and over the following weeks. Results can continue to improve for up to 6 months after the initial treatment *.
Patients typically receive 3 to 4 treatments, but many need up to 6 sessions each spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. Patients with deep scarring or wrinkles are more likely to need extra sessions.
